There’s been some indication newly elected Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr will be “more sceptical” in his approach to China and more “favourable” to the United States, says Perth USAsia Centre CEO Gordon Flake.

“My anticipation is that regardless of his political leanings, a new Marcos presidency will likely be much more focused on maintaining those more traditional security alliances like with the United States.”
