The Australian’s Washington Correspondent Adam Creighton says the inflationary pressure on the US economy is "still very high".
The annual headline inflation rate in the United States overnight is 8.3 per cent, falling from 8.5 per cent.
Mr Creighton said the "more important" figure is the monthly figure.
"And that was pretty worrying … I mean, if you strip out the volatile items – the food and the energy – the core inflation, if you like, over the month, actually doubled from 0.3 per cent to 0.6 per cent," he told Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood.
