Sky News host Piers Morgan says podcaster and stage four bowel cancer sufferer Deborah James has “genuinely inspired millions of people in their very darkest moments”.
Ms James was just 35 when she was diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer and has battled it for five years.
“During that time, she’s hosted a podcast called You, Me and the Big C, and a column in The Sun in which she communicates about her struggle with astonishing candour, clarity and humility,” he said.
Mr Morgan said Ms James had recently revealed she was undergoing hospice care at home and was “waiting for the end of her remarkable life.”
“The response to that heartbreaking announcement has been quite staggering – she just asked supporters to buy her a glass of wine to see her out, and in 24 hours she’s raised more than £1.7 million for her BowelBabe Fund,” he said.
“On a day where inspirational women are in sharp focus, there aren’t many more deserving of our respect and affection than Deborah James.”
