A ‘positive thing’ if independents are able to influence government in a hung parliament

Kooyong independent candidate Monique Ryan says it would be a “positive thing” if independents are in a position where they can influence the government in the event of a hung parliament.

“I would argue that we’ve had a minority government for a long time and that the current Liberal government is a minority government to the Nationals and has been held to ransom by the National Party,” Ms Ryan said.

“And its policies are being driven to the right by the National Party.”
