Joe Biden laughed when a reporter questioned him on whether he “overpromised” in his first year as president after a tumultuous twelve months of numerous crises and poor polling.
The US president today finally held a press conference and took multiple questions from reporters after nearly 80 days of avoiding the media.
The first reporter Mr Biden called upon took no prisoners in asking whether the president “overpromised” to the American people in his first year.
“Why are you such an optimist?” the president sarcastically responded.
“Look I didn’t overpromise and I have probably outperformed than anybody thought would happen.
“I didn’t overpromise but I think if you take a look at what we’ve been able to do you’d have to acknowledge we’ve made enormous progress."
Joe Biden spent five minutes answering the question where he then shifted attention to the Republican Party.
“One of the things that I think is one thing I haven’t been able to do is get my Republican friends get in the game in making things better,” he said.
"I did not anticipate that there would be such stalwart effort to make sure that the most important thing was that president Biden didn’t get anything done.
“Think about this, what are Republicans for? What are they for? Name me one thing they are for.”
