The Prime Minister of Sudan has announced his resignation, saying the country is sliding toward disaster.
Abdalla Hamdok’s announcement follows deadly protests in the East African nation.
The 66-year-old was reinstated as Prime Minister around two months ago following a military coup.
However, in a televised address, he said he was unable to mend the divisions and Sudan is crossing a dangerous turning point which threatens its survival.
He said a round table discussion was needed to come to a new agreement for Sudan’s transition to democracy.
