Italy is considering introducing new restrictions in a bid to contain the spread of Omicron over the holidays.
It comes as the country is experiencing a rise in new infections and deaths.
The government is set impose new measures that would require the fully vaccinated to show a negative test result to access crowded areas like cinemas, theatres and stadiums.
Vaccine mandates could be extended to include all workers from January – in an effort to lift vaccination rates.
Over 85 per cent of Italian residents aged 12 and over are fully vaccinated.
