Northern Territory Deputy Chief Minister Nicole Manison says Tennant Creek will be under lockdown for the next 72 hours after four positive cases came from the town.
The town is set to be released from lockdown on Monday, December 20 at 5pm.
Residents of Tennant Creek are only permitted to leave their homes for five reasons which include seeking medical treatment – including getting a COVID-19 test – or for essential goods and services and essential work which cannot be done at home.
Residents are also permitted one hour of exercise a day no more than five kilometres from their homes which can be done with one other person or with the same household.
Those under lockdown are also permitted to provide care and support to family members who are in need of assistance.
There is also a mask mandate for the Barclay local government area which will expire at the same time as the lockdown.
