Scott Morrison made ‘minimum gesture’ with net zero by 2050 plan

The Australian’s Foreign Editor Greg Sheridan says Prime Minister Scott Morison has made the “minimum gesture” by having a non-legislated net zero by 2050 target.

“Liberal supporters and people on the centre right should recognise that what Morrison has really done here is make the minimum gesture necessary to stop Australia from being beaten up by all these, kind of, self-righteous Europeans and the Biden administration,” Mr Sheridan told Sky news host Alan Jones.

“But he hasn’t really given away anything, he hasn’t committed to anything.

“What this strategy I think shows is, and the government will hate me saying this, is that they don’t take net zero seriously either and I give them full marks for that.”
