Labor ‘ruling out’ technologies for reducing emissions

Energy Minister Angus Taylor says while Labor is “dead set” against nuclear energy, other technologies must be utilised to cut emissions.

“At the end of the day, they run a scare campaign, as they always do, and they oppose it," he told Sky News Australia.

He said the government wants the “broadest set of technologies possible” in the bid for net zero.

“Now, Labor is ruling out lots of technologies, they can’t decide where they sit on carbon capture and storage – some of them are opposed, some of them are in favour – but who knows where they really sit on it.

“And on nuclear they’re just dead set against it.

“So whilst that’s the case, the reality is, we’ve got to get on with the portfolio of technologies we have access to.”
