Over 90 per cent of Victorians have received their first dose

Premier Daniel Andrews has confirmed 90.5 per cent of Victorians have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 71.1 per cent have been fully vaccinated.

“I would just say that the outset, last night was a significant milestone that we passed that 70 per cent double-dosed and to be passed 90 per cent single-dose,” Mr Andrews said at a media conference on Friday.

Mr Andrews said he believes next weekend, the state will reach its 80 per cent double dose vaccination milestone, meaning a further easing of restrictions.

“The key point here is, if you’ve got a second-dose appointment booked and you can bring it forward if you passed that three-week mark for Pfizer, if you passed that four-week mark for Moderna, then please come forward.

“We can be one of the most vaccinated communities anywhere in the world and that will be such a competitive advantage for us as we push into next year, but in a very practical sense, it’ll keep you out of hospital.”

It comes as in the past 24 hours; 38,339 vaccines were administered through state clinics with bookings available to get their first and second doses of the COVID-19 jab.
