Opportunity for Australia to ‘cement role’ in global space sector

Australian Remote Operations for Space and Earth Leanne Cunnold says an Australian-made rover heading to the moon gives Australia the opportunity to “cement our role” in the global space sector.

“This is incredibly important for Australia, and it’s an exciting time, and it really gives Australia the opportunity to cement our role in the global space sector,” Ms Cunnold told Sky News Australia.

“When you look at going to space, you have to develop for the harshest of all environments; you need to make things smaller and lighter.”

“You have to solve for the most complex of problems, and then from that, the spinoffs from earth will come to help optimise our operations here.”
