NSW records 580 new COVID cases, 11 deaths

New South Wales has recorded 580 locally acquired cases of COVID-19 and an additional 11 deaths in the previous 24 hours.

Of the state’s active cases, 812 have been admitted to hospital, 163 of whom are currently in ICU.

Despite the decreasing case numbers, Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant urged residents in areas of concern to continue presenting themselves for testing.

“In terms of areas of concern, we’re still seeing declines in a number of areas in southwestern Sydney and western Sydney, but I still urge those communities to come forward for testing,” she said.

“There are still high rates in a number of suburbs and we want to continue to see those case numbers decline.”
