Net zero is still being ‘strongly debated’ by the Coalition

Liberal Party Vice-President Teena McQueen says a commitment to net zero emissions by 2050 is still being “strongly debated” by the Coalition.

It comes as Prime Minister Scott Morrison says he is going to explain his climate policies to the Australian people before taking them to “people overseas" in the lead up to the COP26 Climate Change Conference.

“It’s a distinct line between ourselves and Labor,” Ms McQueen said.

“It’s a strong selling point for the Coalition and I know those debates are going on.

“I know Angus Taylor is always saying technology not taxes.

“So let’s just wait and see what explaining the Prime Minister does to us.”
