Australia and EU trade talks delayed amid tensions with France

Trade talks between Australia and the European Union have been delayed as the divide deepens over the AUKUS security deal.

The Morrison government’s decision to scrap a $90 billion submarine deal with France has set the country’s relations with Europe into turmoil.

An EU official confirmed free trade talks will be postponed until November.

Trade Minister Dan Tehan is expected to meet the EU trade commissioner in what will be the 12th round of negotiations.
