‘Insanity’: Overseas travel to be possible before some states reopen borders

Journalist Joe Hildebrand says the fact some Australians will be able to go overseas before they go to Perth or Brisbane “highlights the insanity” of the situation.

It comes as the prime minister announced international borders will be reopened next month for states who have reached 80 per cent double dose vaccination.

"We’ll be able to go to Peru before we get to Perth," Mr Hildebrand said.

“We’ll be able to go to Baghdad before we get to Brisbane.

“It just highlights the insanity that we’re currently experiencing.”
