America seeks to make amends with France

United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit France next week to try mend the damage caused by the exclusion from the new Indo-Pacific security initiative.

The trip’s main agenda focuses on meetings with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Mr Blinken is expected to meet the French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and other officials, seeking to deepen the alliance.

President Joe Biden also attempted to make amends, speaking to President Emmanuel Macron by phone on September 22, with the pair due to meet in Europe this month.
