‘We’ve had 20 months to get ready’ for extra strain on health systems

GT Communications Director Gemma Tognini says the nation has had “20 months to get ready” for the extra strain on hospitals caused by the pandemic.

The Australian is reporting people have been dying from other treatable conditions due to the fact the health system is overburden by COVID-19.

“I think health is, from a portfolio perspective often the poison chalice,” she said.

“It’s a bottomless pit, but if you ignore it, this is where we end up.”
