Met Gala returns after COVID-19 hiatus

Fashion’s biggest night, the Met Gala, returned for 2021 on Monday evening with this year’s theme ‘In America: A Lexicon of Fashion’ celebrating the evolution of the nation’s fashion.

Last year’s gala, due to celebrate the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s 150th anniversary, was postponed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Generally held on the first Monday in May, this year’s event was instead held as a finale to New York Fashion Week, on the second Monday of September.

US Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief, Anna Wintour, said the Met Gala “would really represent the fact that New York was back”.
