Gavin Newsom is ‘probably safe’ in recall election

The Australian’s Washington Correspondent Adam Creighton says California Governor Gavin Newsom is “probably safe” ahead of Tuesday’s recall election.

Mr Creighton said Democrats in the state were “probably” worried about six weeks ago, when the polls were “neck and neck”.

“I think, since then, the polls have moved in favour of Gavin Newsom, I think something like 58 or 60 per cent of those surveyed a few days ago said they did not want him recalled," he said.
