New South Wales records 1,290 cases

New South Wales has recorded 1,290 new coronavirus cases and four deaths.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian also stressed the importance of vaccines, as the state surpasses 6.8 million jabs.

“As I have been saying for the last couple of weeks, while it is important for us to reduce case numbers, we know the greatest way to do that is getting vaccinated,” she said.

There are currently 840 people in hospital, 137 in ICU and 48 on ventilators.
