Qantas posts $1.7 billion loss for FY21

Qantas has announced a loss of $1.7 billion in the last financial year, but CEO Alan Joyce is outlining plans to restart international flights as early as December.

Mr Joyce has pointed out the Phase 3 plan of National Cabinet sees 80 per cent vaccination rates by December this year and he believes Australians will be flying on Qantas planes to highly-vaccinated and COVID-safe locations as soon as the targets are hit.

These destinations include Singapore, the United States, Canada, Japan and the United Kingdom.

Mr Joyce expects to be flying at 60 to 70 per cent of pre-COVID levels by June next year.
