Isolation to be a ‘thing of the past’ as vaccinations ramp up

Nationals Senator Bridget McKenzie says quarantine and isolation will become a "thing of the past" as vaccination rates ramp up.

It comes amid news Queensland will push ahead with constructing its own regional purpose-built quarantine facility.

Discussing whether the facility is needed, Ms McKenzie told Sky News host Chris Kenny it’s a decision for the Queensland government.

"At the end of the day, our one job here in Canberra is to get through the global pandemic with maintaining as little loss of life as possible and maximum ability for our economy to bounce back," she said.
