‘Enough is enough’: Berejiklian urges state leaders to abide to vaccination targets

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has called on state counterparts to uphold their end of the bargain and reopen once 80 per cent of Australia’s population has been fully vaccinated.

There are concerns several state premiers will continue to impose restrictions on domestic visitors despite National Cabinet agreeing to a four-stage pathway out of the pandemic based on the Doherty Institute’s modelling.

“I hope that all our colleagues will stick to the National Cabinet agreement and I’ve tried to be as direct and as real about this as possible,” Ms Berejiklian said.

“If not 80%, when do you open up? When do you say enough?

“Remember even at 80% double dose, we will still have rules in place, we will still have restrictions in place but it will be nothing like what we are living through now.

“All states in Australia will have to come to terms with this and there has to come a point in time where leaders say OK, enough is enough, we now have to accept we can’t live like this forever.

“We have to allow loved ones to come together, we have to allow Australians to move freely within Australia.”
