Death toll set to rise from Kabul terror attacks

The death toll is set to rise from terrorist attacks which took place outside Kabul international airport where thousands were gathered.

At least 72 people are dead and 140 injured after the first blast went off at Abbey terminal gate outside the airport where Australia, American, and British troops had been stationed.

The second explosion is believed to have been a car bomb located approximately one kilometre from the airport at the Baron Hotel and it is believed some American forces were posted there.

There are reported to be foreigners, children, Taliban members, and 12 United States military personnel among the casualties.

The explosions have led to the withdrawal of Australian rescue efforts and defence force personnel but American and British efforts will continue.

ISIS-K has claimed responsibility for the attack.
