xXx Trilogy: 25 Things You Missed

Vinnie may always be most famous for playing family-loving Dominic Toretto in the Fast and Furious franchise, but let’s not forget some of the other iconic characters the actor has played over the years. I would argue apart from his voice work, his second most famous character is Xander Cage, otherwise known as triple x.. Seriously, Xander Cage is one of the best named characters in all of movie history and it totally fits with the guy’s personality and style.

Overall, there have been three of these movies, starting with the first one in 2002, then a Vin-less sequel called State of the Union starring Ice Cube in 2005, and then Diesel returned to the franchise for 2017’s The Return of Xander Cage. While the second film is a largely forgettable political thriller, the first and the third follow the fur coat wearing extreme sports athlete turned super spy doing insane stunt after insane stunt. And now as we eagerly await a fourth movie, we thought it was a good time to go back and discuss some of the best behind the scenes facts, easter eggs, and trivia tidbits that you might not have known about this James Bond meets X-Games franchise. Did you know Vinnie wasn’t the first choice for Xander Cage? Did you know Jet Li was supposed to be in the third movie before being replaced by Donnie Yen? Did you know how Xander Cage was originally written out of the series? So much to discuss!

So go try to snowboard away from an avalanche and then come back and check out everything you missed in this bonkers action franchise.
