There is ‘no way’ Berejiklian will ‘back down’ from her promise to open the state

Sky News host Chris Smith says NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian is not going to “back down” from her promise to reopen and give more freedom to the citizens in the state once vaccination targets are met.

“She does have a lot of nerve, and she’s risk-averse and she’s courageous and there is no way that she will back down on what she’s promised the NSW people,” Mr Smith told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“Neither will the NSW people allow her to back down.

Mr Smith said if Ms Berejiklian were to backtrack on her promise, there would be “civil disobedience” from the public who the longer in lockdown are craving for freedom.

Mr Smith also said as vaccination rates go up, the number of ICU patients and deaths will start to decrease as more citizens arm themselves against COVID-19.

“So, I think we’re heading in the direction, and I can’t even imagine her backing down with the way she has, I guess, framed the plan ahead.”
