Perth on standby for AFL Grand Final

Perth is poised to host the AFL Grand Final unless Victoria is able to stop its COVID outbreak from spreading.

South Australia and Queensland also put in bids to host the match, but Western Australia came out on top because it has the capacity to host the largest crowd of over 60,000 at Optus Stadium.

The decision now rests with the Victorian government which is expected to announce a decision next week on whether the MCG will be able to host crowds.

The game is scheduled to be played on Saturday September 25.
