NAPLAN delivered ‘surprising, but reassuring’ results

The Centre for Independent Studies’ Glenn Fahey says this year’s NAPLAN results were “surprising, but reassuring".

“Many of us predicted, quite understandably on the evidence we had to hand, that we should expect to see some small decreases in achievement and progress for students,” Mr Fahey told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“Especially in those areas impacted by lockdowns,” he added.

However, this did not come to fruition, with new NAPLAN results showing the COVID-19 pandemic has not significantly impacted literacy and numeracy scores, which were largely unchanged from 2019.
