Regional NSW needs to ‘keep vaccination rates high’

NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro says regional areas in the state need to "keep vaccination rates high", congratulating those which have seen increased rates.

“We want to keep vaccination rates high, we want to keep up with what’s occurring in Sydney, and we want to also make sure that we have access points in areas in regional rural New South Wales that are falling behind," Mr Barilaro said.

He said he would like to commend Wallacia, which now has a 49.2 per cent double-dose rate and a 75 per cent single-dose rate, as well as Edward River which has seen a double-dose rate of 41 per cent.

He said Hay has a 40 per cent rate of double-doses.

"And the biggest mover for the week was Gilgandra, that went from 22 and a half per cent of first dose to 51 per cent in under a week.

“So again, congratulations to those regional communities that are getting on the vaccination program."
