Premier Andrews: ‘If we have to do more, we will’

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews says he will not rule out additional support for businesses which are struggling under lockdown measures.

“There’s no question that there are many, many people doing it tough, but that’s why there’s been more than $7 billion worth of economic support and business support,” he said.

“That must be getting closer to $8 billion now given recent announcements we’ve made. We’re pleased that some of those announcements, the last sort of four or five of those have been a partnership with Canberra. That’s enormous amounts of support.

“Is there an unlimited amount of support, is any support the same as having all your customers back, no, that’s why we’ve got to drive these cases down so we can get customers back into businesses, we can get people back doing what they do best and that’s not being closed, that’s being opened.

“If there were a different way then of course we would choose that.

“Can I rule out doing more, of course not. If we have to do more, we will.”
