NSW Health partners with sporting codes for ‘vaccination championship cup’

New South Wales Health Deputy Secretary Susan Pearce says disability and childcare workers who live or work in any of the 12 LGAs now have priority access to get vaccinated.

Ms Pearce said the LGAs had made almost 300,000 bookings for the jab and there are still “well over 200,000 spots available” for people in those areas.

She said New South Wales Health had “partnered with the major sporting codes” and encouraged people to wear their team colours when they receive the shot in a “vaccination championship cup” on Sunday.

“Wear your team colours, take a selfie on the selfie wall as you are leaving, and the sporting codes will be announcing a competition to see which code could get the most vaccinations completed,” she said.

“We are keen for people to do whatever it takes to get those doses into arms and we look forward to seeing everyone have a little bit of fun while they’re at it.”
