Other COVID-19 variants ‘could emerge’

Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says vaccines have worked well against different variants, but more could potentially arise.

“Anyone who thinks that this ends with this opening at the end of the year, I’m afraid I have the potential of bad news,” Mr Clennell said.

“So far, the vaccines have proved pretty effective against different variants, even Delta. But one of the assumptions in the Doherty modelling was that it was for the Delta variant.

“In the report prepared for National Cabinet, it clearly stated the fact other variants could emerge.”
