Parliament returns despite act lockdown

Federal parliament is due to sit today with but since Australia’s capital is under lockdown, temperature testing will be used for the first time and only a handful of MPs from either side of the aisle will be present.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said, “there won’t be an issue in terms of there being enough members to be able to sit in a parliament”.

Parliament House will be closed to the public and only 25 Coalition MPs, 18 from Labor, and one crossbencher will be present.

Those who are at home will be able to participate virtually via video link.
