Another 1,700 flee Afghanistan

As people are airlifted out of Afghanistan, thousands more remain as they are desperate to flee the Taliban but unable to escape.

The military commander at Kabul airport says troops leading the evacuation effect are facing unexpected challenges as seven more die in the chaos.

Afghanis are waiting day and night at the airport hoping to get onto a system which will allow them to leave but most of them will not.

People waiting to see if the United States will accept them wait in crowded areas with no shade as more fail eligibility tests.

The few who will be allowed refuge by the US are facing a tough environment in Kabul and families are likely to be split up.
