Vaccine rollout reduces Brazil’s death toll

Brazil records over 33,000 new COVID-19 cases and 870 deaths in the past 24 hours.

With vaccination going up the rolling seven-day average of deaths has fallen to less than a third of the number at the peak of the pandemic.

In total, over 20 million infections have been reported and the official death toll has risen to more than half a million.

It is the world’s third worst outbreak alongside the United States and India.
