North Carolina man who threatened to bomb US Capitol charged

A man who sparked mass evacuations in Washington DC has been charged after he threatened to detonate a bomb on US Capitol Hill.

Floyd Ray Roseberry’s actions triggered a massive police response – including a five-hour standoff – with law enforcement later confirming no weapon had been found.

A court has revealed a relative warned law enforcement the 51-year-old – a North Carolina native – had recently expressed anti-government views and planned to conduct acts of violence.

Prosecutors say they will try to keep the man behind bars while his case progresses.
