Rebranded ABC Life website ‘failed to provide taxpayers’ what was originally sold

It was seen as a win for taxpayers when the ABC promised to rebrand its “strange” website ABC Life in 2020, but fast-forward to today and the website has “failed to provide,” according to Digital Editor Jack Houghton.

At the time, ABC Regional and Local director Judith Whelan said the rebrand would lead more local stories drawn from across the regional and local network.

Mr Houghton noted the website costs “more than $1 million of your money a year”.

“And instead of local and regional journalism it is filled with cooking recipes, sex advice, and stories about how to avoid your socks missing,” he said.
