Container ship returns to Suez Canal

The container ship which became lodged in the Suez Canal for nearly a week will make another attempt to pass through the Egyptian waterway.

In a rematch of the struggle that dominated headlines in March, the vessel has entered at the opposite end and is on its way back to the Red Sea, several weeks after docking at a UK port.

The Ever Given began its journey through the canal accompanied by two tugboats and has successfully negotiated the early stages.

Earlier this year, the operation to free the 400-metre ship caused a six-day backlog, interrupting international trade.
