Regional New South Wales to remain in lockdown until at least August 28

Regional New South Wales will remain in lockdown until at least August 28, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced on Thursday.

It comes after the state saw a record number of new locally acquired COVID-19 cases.

During a media conference on Thursday, Ms Berejiklian announced there were 681 cases of community transmission in the state.

“Concerns remain about western New South Wales,” she said.

Ms Berejiklian announced the lockdown in regional New South Wales "will align with the rest of New South Wales".

"So, until at least the 28th of August all of regional New South Wales will also remain in lockdown as a precaution."
