“We extend sympathies and condolences to the family of a man in his 80s who died at St George Hospital in the last 24 hours,” she said.

“He’d had one dose of the vaccine and had underlying health conditions and again we extend our deepest sympathies to the family of that deceased man.”

Ms Berejiklian said the suburbs health authorities have the most concern for include Merrylands, Guildford, Auburn, Granville, Lidcombe, Greenacre, and Blacktown.

“They are the areas we’re there’s the fastest growth in cases. It doesn’t mean there aren’t other areas that we’re concerned about but they are the main ones,” she said.
