Afghan women, girls, and ethnic minority groups have ‘every right to be frightened’

University of Melbourne Deputy Vice-Chancellor Michael Wesley says women and girls have “every right to be frightened” after being treated brutally at the hands of the Taliban in the past.

“It really is a grim interpretation of Islam and a very doctrinaire interpretation," he told Sky News Australia.

“I think women and girls have every right to be frightened as do some of the ethnic minority such as the Hazaras who have been treated extremely brutally at the hands of the Taliban in the past."
