Opening women’s sports to mixed sexes will be ‘exploited by males’

Save Women’s Sports Australasia co-founder Katherine Deves says opening up the women’s sports to mixed sexes will undoubtedly be “exploited by males”.

“I mean if we are going to open up the sports category, the women’s sports category, to being mixed sexed, which is essentially what the IOC have done and Sport Australia have done, we have no doubt that this is going to be exploited by males seeking to have a competition advantage,” Ms Deves told Sky News host Cory Bernardi.

“If we allow these males in, absolutely, women are not going to stand a chance, not only are they not going to be in the finals, they’re not even going to be in the competition.

“Women sports should not be a retirement plan or a dumping ground for male athletes who’ve aged out or failed in their sports.”
