Cairns hopes to exit snap lockdown today

Residents in Cairns are hoping to exit their three-day lockdown today after there were no new cases recorded in the region.

Authorities have confirmed the positive taxi driver was linked to a previous case – a marine pilot whom he transported to the airport.

There have been 300 close contacts of the driver identified and more than 1,000 people are in quarantine.

Authorities have released a fresh list of exposure sites overnight and anyone who visited Cairns Domestic Airport on July 26 from 4:50am to 6am is a casual contact and must get tested and isolate until they receive a negative result.

The same applies for anyone who travelled on the Qantas Flight QF707, from Cairns to Brisbane on July 26 from 6am to 7:50 am and patrons who attended Brisbane Domestic Airport on July 26 from 7:45am to 8:15am.
