Victoria Health considering the use of locally-made masks

The Victorian Government is considering buying medical masks from a local manufacturer, rather than resorting to purchasing foreign-made masks, according to Sky News host Peta Credlin.

MedCon, an Australian mask manufacturer, was employed by several state governments across the country at the beginning of the pandemic to produce masks amid global supply chain issues.

When governments resorted to cheaper, imported masks the company was left “struggling to survive”, and was forced to let go of staff.

Ms Credlin says she hopes Victorian Health Minister Martin Foley does “the right thing, and backs this great Australian company”.
