Fully-vaccinated woman’s compassionate exemption rejected by Vic Health

A fully-vaccinated Sydney woman who is seeking to visit her daughter undergoing chemotherapy in Melbourne has been denied a compassionate exemption request by Victoria Health.

Katarina Anderson applied for a compassionate travel exemption over three weeks ago, in order to care for her daughter Georgie who has been diagnosed with a severe form of breast cancer.

The exemption request was rejected on Friday by Victorian health authorities, which Ms Anderson said was a “devastating blow”.

Georgie’s husband, Kael Hudson, says it has been incredibly difficult trying to “take on a full-time carer role for my wife, and also look after the two kids.”

When asked about Ms Anderson’s application, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said there are “a number of people who’ve got very good reason to come here, but the answer just has to be no”, however he said he would “look at the specifics of the case”.
