‘We know we have to support people through this’: PM announces business package

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced a spate of economic support payments aimed at alleviating pressure on Victorian businesses and individuals, as the state faces its sixth lockdown since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Mr Morrison has introduced a business support package which will provide over $400 million in support to businesses across the state, which was constructed by Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg and his Victorian counterpart, Tim Pallas.

Mr Morrison said the Commonwealth understood the response to the Delta variant “leaves very few tools available to us other than those now being employed by the states where we are now seeing those cases”.

“The COVID disaster payment is proving to be a highly effective, and very timely way to get support to people.”
