Mid-September target to lift Sydney lockdown under consideration

New South Wales has requested financial modelling for Greater Sydney’s lockdown to last until mid-September.

The state’s crisis cabinet will meet this morning and is suspected to announce a significant extension of the lockdown.

The Australian has reported while officials initially considered a September 3 end date, it is understood they are modelling several financial scenarios including a September 17 deadline.

Treasurer Dominic Perrottet is also expected to request the reintroduction of Jobkeeper despite a knock back of a previous request.
