Instead of "waiting to be sacked," former Liberal leader Dr John Hewson should’ve stepped down willingly as a columnist in one of the Nine papers if he "really believed in gender quotas," says Sky News host Rita Panahi.
This comes as Dr Hewson’s column was terminated to meet gender quotas.
Ms Panahi said Dr Hewson himself wrote an opinion piece which "suggested" his advocacy for gender quotas in the workplace.
"If he really believed in the gender quotas like his piece seemed to suggest he should’ve stepped down himself he shouldn’t have waited to be sacked," Ms Panahi said.
"He should’ve said in the interest of achieving 50-50 male/female representation I’m out of here, but no, that’s the grounds he was moved along on.
"If this is what you advocate for, it comes for you as well."
