Lord Mayor of Melbourne Sally Capp says the lockdown is deflating and will cause both economic and emotional devastation.
Victoria has entered a hard five-day lockdown after the outbreak hit 18 cases, with Premier Daniel Andrews saying the state has one chance to go at it hard and fast.
A travel limit of a five kilometre radius has also been reimplemented.
“It’s deflating, it’s frustrating, it causes anxiety and there’s a devastation that comes both in financial sense as well as emotional, mental, levels of energy, etcetera.” Ms Capp told Sky News.
“This is a five-day lockdown. We want to go hard here in Victoria and we want to come out of it fast.”
